Job Description:
Diversity Abroad Network, the leading professional network dedicated to diversity and equity in global education, is seeking an intern to provide assistance in the development of professional resources for international educators and other advocates for diversifying education abroad. This is a unique opportunity to work in the international education field while learning about the needs of diverse underrepresented groups and the individuals who support their involvement in education abroad learning opportunities. Through the development of specialized learning opportunities and a range of professional resources, you will gain both knowledge and skills as you play an essential role in the growth and success of the Network.

Compensation: Monthly stipend (with opportunity for monthly bonuses)

This position will depend heavily on telecommunications. Therefore, consistent access to the Internet, personal laptop computer and a mobile telephone is a must.


Responsibilities

The specific nature of activities will depend on the organizational and programmatic priorities during your tenure; however, the proposed major responsibilities will include:

• Maintain open communication with DA Network Manager

• Conduct, transcribe and post Leadership Interviews

• Develop Country Diversity Climate Notes

• Research, seek out and conduct Good Practices interviews

• Search for topic specific articles for Resource Library

• Develop content for the Monthly Network Newsletter

• Solicit contributions to the Job Board

• Assist with the development of the Diversity Conference

• Facilitate use of the Network Blog

• Assist with other Diversity Abroad initiatives as needed
Job Qualification:
The following minimum qualifications are required:

• Excellent time management skills

• Proficiency in written and spoken English

• Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office applications)

• Well-organized and detail-oriented

• Excellent interactive and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work in a multicultural environment as demonstrated by experience

• Confident and self-directed to work independently with little supervision

• Tact and diplomacy to relate to colleagues and people from different backgrounds;

• Flexibility and adaptability

• Adobe Creative suite (Photoshop, Dreamweaver)


Preferred Qualifications

• Enrollment in or recent graduation from a graduate-level degree program in education or international related field or undergraduate degree with education abroad experience and two years of post-college work experience

• Knowledge of underrepresented study abroad groups: Students of Color; First Generation College Students; Students With High Financial Need; Non-traditional Majors and/or Students with Disabilities


Technical Experience

• HTML/WYSWYG Experience

• Adobe Creative suite (Photoshop, Dreamweaver)
