Diversity Network Innovation Grant

Grant description:

 

The Diversity Abroad Network (Diversity Network) Innovation Grant, sponsored by CAPA International Education, provides support to institutions that have exhibited commitment to addressing issues of diversity, inclusion and underrepresentation in international education through innovation.

The grant is designed to support innovative projects, events or research (PE/R) employed by colleges and universities to address issues of diversity, equity and underrepresentation in international education in the following areas:

 

  • Ethnically/racially diverse;
  • Economically disadvantaged;
  • First generation;
  • Disability (all apparent or non-apparent)
  • Non-traditional academic discipline;
  • International student (a full degree or visiting student on your campus);
  • Community college students.

 

 

Areas of focus for 2013 Grant:

 

  1. Recruitment strategies/initiatives for diverse student populations
  2. Research that supports the advancement of diversity and equity in education abroad
  3. Collaboration between international education office and departments/offices that serve the needs of diverse and underrepresented student groups
  4. Promoting diversity engagement in host countries among study abroad participants 

 

 

Eligibility: 

 

The 2013 competition offers a special opportunity for institutions to be supported in their work to advance diversity and equity in international education. Although the award is open to all institutions both domestically and internationally based, all applicants must either be a current member of the Diversity Abroad Network consortium or officially nominated by a current Diversity Network member. 

 

Funding Period:

 

PE/R must occur between the period of July 1, 2013 and February 1, 2014.

 

The deadline for this year's grant submission is Friday, June 14, 2013.
