Diversity Pre-departure Discussion

Pre-departure preparation is an essential component to any education abroad program. Typically underserved students may have additional issues, challenges and concerns that need to be addressed during pre-departure orientation.

For this reason, the Diversity Network has created a pre-departure video that addresses sensitive topics about race, discrimination and perceptions abroad. This video is a valuable resource not only for underrepresented students, but for all students going abroad. Items discussed in the video include:

The video concludes with discussion prompts and topics for you to address on a more personalized level with your students.
