Supporting International Students from India: Perspectives from students and international educators
Thursday, February 2 at 12:00 PM EST
With a population of roughly 1.4 billion people, the second most populous country in the world, research suggests that India will soon outnumber China in international student mobility. Many students from India are looking at study abroad programs and traveling to countries including the United States, United Kingdom and Canada. There are many key considerations in choosing a destination country, however, once they are on site students may not receive the support they need. In this session, you will learn ways to support Indian students from the perspective of three students and international educators. With a rise in international students from India, it is important to understand the challenges they face with accessibility, identity and community support.
At the end of the discussion, our panelists will provide their perspectives of how to best support the different identities of students coming from India. The participants will gain a better understanding of what challenges students face when they transition to the United States. Participants will be able to learn more about the barriers students face with respect to the different identities of Indian students.
