Overview of AIDE Roadmap & Guideline Ten | In-country Support, Reporting & Advising

Study abroad professionals know that support for students does not end when the student boards the plane to their study abroad location. On-site support for students is the hallmark of a quality program. Diverse students may face unique concerns when they are in-country that other students may not. Ensuring that diverse students are aware of these concerns, especially related to health & safety, and have the support they need on-site is important to facilitating a positive learning experience while abroad.


Case Study: North Carolina State University

After some lessons learned, the NC State Study Abroad Office is working with program directors and campus partners to develop training and resources to improve the inclusiveness of our short-term programs. The new resources are designed to empower program directors to gain a stronger understanding of the needs of diverse students and how to best support them while in-country. Come discuss best practices and ways in which we can support our students, program directors, and each other.
 

Who Should Attend?

Intended for professionals interested in developing the skills and expertise needed to increase capacity and serve more diverse student populations in education abroad, this high-impact training will focus on providing effective in-country support to students from all backgrounds.
